Sign up to speak at a Board Meeting
 

A portion of each meeting is set aside for public participation. Public participation is intended to allow individual members of the public to address the Board on issues of public concern, and not intended as a forum for extended conversation or two-way dialog with the Board or District officials. All speakers will be allotted up to three minutes for comment unless an exception applies.

 

Regular Board Meetings


Individuals wishing to comment must sign up in advance of the Regular Meeting date by completing the Online Speaking Request Form (below). The sign-up period closes at 4:00 p.m. five (5) calendar days prior to the day of the next Regular Board Meeting.

  

Retreats and Special Meetings


For all Retreats and, and Special Meetings, individuals will be allowed to speak on a first-come, first-serve basis.
 

During remote meetings, comments may be made via audio or via audio and video on the WebEx platform. Additionally, members of the public who wish to submit comments in advance of remote meetings may do so by email to [email protected] or in written letter form submitted to Newark Board of Education, Office of Board Relations, 765 Broad Street, Newark, New Jersey 07102. All comments submitted shall be read aloud during the remote meeting, up to the three-minute time limit.

 

An individual who is registered to speak cannot give his/her time to another individual.
